As part of the festivities organised in Beirut around the World Book Capital 2009, the Hay Festival organised the Beirut39 literary festival to pay tribute to the 39 best Arab writers under the age of 40.
The festival was held from 15 to 18 April 2010.
I was commissioned by the Hay Festival to photograph the 40 writers participating in Beirut 39.
The portraits of the authors illustrate the catalogue entitled A glimpse of young arabic literature and published afterwards.

An anthology presenting the authors was published simultaneously in English and Arabic by Bloomsbury Publishing Plc and Bloomsbury Qatar Foundation Publishing.
