The book present 30 churches from two regions of Sweden, Västergötland and Värmland, with the aim of spotlighting their beauty and originality. One fascinating thing they have in common is that they have hand-painted interiors, dating from different periods of history.

The foreword and the texts for each church are written by Philippe Bouquet (texts in Swedish, French and English), former professor of Scandinavian languages at the University of Caen (France).

Financial support from the Swedish Royal Patriotic Society (Kungliga Patriotiska Sällskapet) and from the Swedish author fund has made publication of this book possible.

We also got the support of the Church of Sweden (Research and Analysis Unit, Svenska Kyrkan, Uppsala), and the Diocese of Karlstad, the Diocese of Växjö and the Skara Diocese Historical Society.

The Swedish local newspaper Mariestads Tidningen published in his issue of April 17, 2022, an article about the book, written by journalist Madeleine Laine.

In the issue 2/2022 of Kyrkobladet (Parish of Järna and Vårdinge), you vill also find an article about the book, written by journalist and designer Linnéa Malmborg.
