Skillebyholm, 50 years of knowledge.

Skillebyholm is a meeting place, a centre for biodynamic farming, education and sustainable development, and celebrates 50 years this year.

With four activities scheduled over the year, Skillebyholm aims to create opportunities for people to meet, learn new things, develop a space for reflection and, of course, celebrate!

As I study for two years (2011-2013) at the Skillebyholm College of Biodynamic Gardening, I photographed the daily activity at the College during four month, between January 9th to April 30th, 2012, with one Polaroid image a day.

Twelve images are presented here, in anticipation of spring and the return of light.

Skillebyholm est un lieu de rencontre, un centre pour l'agriculture biodynamique, l'éducation et le développement durable, qui fête cette année ses 50 ans.

Avec quatre activités programmées au cours de l'année 2024, Skillebyholm souhaite créer des opportunités de rencontres, permettre l'acquisition de nouvelles connaissances, développer un espace de réflexion et, bien sûr, faire la fête !

Au cours de mes deux années d'étude à l'école de jardinage et d’horticulture de Skillebyholm, j’ai photographié l’activité quotidienne à l’école pendant quatre mois avec une image Polaroid par jour, entre le 9 janvier et le 30 avril 2012.

Douze images sont présentées ici, dans l’attente du printemps et du retour de la lumière.

Exhibition : Fria Fotografers Filial.

I'll be part of the Fria Fotografers Filial exhibition at the Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in Stockholm, together with over 60 others photographers. Black and white, and color, documentary and staged, blurred and sharp. Each photographer is his own curator!

I will show one color photograph from the project Ytterjärna Trädgårdspark - a new, long-term project I started for a few years ago in the garden of Ytterjärna, located outside Järna.

The photograph is taken with 4 x 5 in. sheet films with homemade pinhole camera.

Ytterjärna : the Garden Park.

The artist Arne Klingborg (1915-2005) called the park in Ytterjärna « a garden park in Sörmland ». A garden meets a park that meets a landscape right here, just outside Järna (28 milles south of Stockholm) in the Sörmanland region.

The garden park was developed from the typical Sörmland cultivated landscape and under Arne Klingborg's leadership acquired a kind of anthroposophical design language that became unique among gardens and parks in Sweden. A creative and social garden movement gained momentum, and has been a source of inspiration for the ecological movement we have today.

The garden park consists of about fifty different formations and motifs. The large rose garden and the biological purification ponds are the most prominent motifs, but there are also more subtle motifs such as "The Clearing", "The Nightingale's Garden" and "the Liljefors Birch Grove". There are also a number of perennial flower beds with different colour themes; the Yellow, Blue and Red flower beds and the White Garden. Below the White House is a terraced flower-bed called the Monet flower bed, a plantation in blue with hints of orange and pink like a painting of a sunset by the Impressionist artist.

We are today four gardeners taking care of Trädgårdsparken, as the garden park is called in Swedish, and our tasks are: care and maintenance of land surfaces, grass and hedge cutting, weeding, pruning of trees and shrubs, spring and autumn cleaning, maintenance of perennials and the two rose-gardens, planting and care of annuals, watering flower beds, and maintenance of the ponds and water stairs.

And in addition to the park, there is plenty for both the soul and the senses with a large selection of cultural events at the "Kulturhuset" cultural centre.
