The Swedish museum Bror Hjorths Hus will present in its summer exhibition around 45 painting and graphics of the Swedish artist Greta Gerell (1898-1982).
Timeless objects, stylised figures and impressionistic street scenes.
This summer's exhibition in Bror Hjorths Hus presents an artist contemporary with Bror Hjorth.
Greta Gerell (1898-1982) devoted her entire life to art. She painted impressionist street scenes, people and stylised figures and later pictures that she called Timeless Things.
Greta Gerell's work is highly diverse, but her imagery is held together by a strong inner consistency. She constantly searched for something animate behind the surface of things.
Her long and productive life covers a large part of the 20th century, and her pictures show the different environments that surrounded her, from Paris and the Mediterranean countries to Stockholm and its archipelago.
